2016 Newman’s Own Foundation Grants

In 2016, the focus of the Newman's Own Foundation UK charity funding round was Empowerment. Applications were accepted from organisations who not only empower but inspire, encourage, and support children throughout the UK, to overcome exceptional situations, in order to build a better future.

Congratulations to the following grant recipients:

  • AMAZE A charity helping children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities feel valued, included in their community and supported to thrive.

  • CHILDREN'S HOSPICE SOUTH WEST Provides hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their whole family across the South West from their three hospices.

  • CLIC SARGENT CANCER CARE FOR CHILDREN A charity with a vision that everyone under 25 with cancer, and their families, will get the support and help they need during their cancer treatment and beyond, including bereaved families living with emotional pain.

  • DAME VERA LYNN CHILDREN'S CHARITY Offers an early intervention service for babies and children under five years of age with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments.

  • DARTMOUTH CARING A local charity committed to helping the vulnerable and those in need.

  • HACKNEY EMPIRE LIMITED – Offering a safe space and specialist support to young people with the opportunity to create and perform their own theatre piece.

  • MANCHESTER YOUNG LIVES LTD Working with children and young people in disadvantaged areas of Manchester to improve their life choices through learning and make a successful transition to adult life through support and guidance.

  • MUSIC IN HOSPITALS A charity whose mission is to improve the quality of life for adults and children with all kinds of illness and disability through the joy and therapeutic benefits of professionally performed live music in hospitals, hospices, day care centres, special schools and care homes.

  • NATHAN TIMOTHY FOUNDATION 'THE SONGWRITING CHARITY' Dedicated to the empowerment of young people through the art and craft of songwriting.

  • NEW HACKNEY EDUCATION BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP. An independent and local charity that supports the education, training and development of young people by forming mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses and schools.

  • OYAP TRUST Enabling young people to realise their own personal, social and leadership skills, grow in confidence and build self-esteem and resilience.

  • ROUNDABOUT Provides a dramatherapy service that is accessible to all members of the community, working with nurseries, schools, daycentres and residential settings.

  • SHEFFIELD MENCAP Shows a commitment to people in with a learning disability and their families through identifying and working against all forms of inequality, building up confidence & working towards ensuring full and meaningful lives.

  • SPRINGBOARD FOR CHILDREN The experts in providing one-to-one literacy teaching for children and young people who struggle with learning to read, write, speak and listen.

  • THE CLOCK TOWER SANCTUARY Supporting homeless young people in Brighton and Hove.

  • THE DASH CHARITY Help individuals and families affected by domestic abuse with confidential advice and support.

  • THE MINISTRY OF STORIES A local writing and mentoring centre in east London, where anyone aged eight to 18 can discover their own gift for writing.

  • THE MAGDALEN ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST A charity based on an organic farm with a vision of a sustainable future in which a healthy environment and thriving, fulfilled communities are integral and essential to one another.

  • BRIGHTER HORIZONS offering day service provision for those with learning disability and complex needs in the borough of Lewisham.
